Many autograph dealers have had interesting "lives" before choosing autographs. Christophe Stickel is no exception. After receiving a Masters Degree Cum Laude in English from the University of Colorado in Greeley, Colorado, he dropped out of post-graduate school to become an apprentice chef at the Olympic Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle, Washington. Following his apprenticeship he worked as a cook in deluxe hotels in Switzerland and London and then for 20 years was Executive Chef of the prestigious San Francisco Golf Club, where he once cooked for the emperor of Japan and for several ex-presidents. Exchanging the toque for historical documents, he now chefs exclusively for Susan, his wife of 15 years and the occasional consignor who visits their ocean-view home in Pacific Grove. His passions are autographs, history, and Paisley and Spencer, his two miniature "show" dogs who are his constant companions at both work and book fairs. |
